or water storage in brackish aquifers, or other situations where mixing between the stored water and the surrounding native groundwater is to be minimized, the storage bubble is contained within a buffer zone. The sum of the volume of the storage bubble which is required to meet demands during recovery, plus the volume in the buffer zone, is the Target Storage Volume (TSV) for the ASR well, assuming no losses due to lateral movement of the water during storage due to the hydraulic gradient in the storage zone.
